Midsun Book Club Wrap-up

The last meeting (and a yummy lunch) was held on June 12 for the two book clubs.  The Grade eight students enjoyed Home in Time for Dinner by Kathryn Ellis. The Grade sevens loved All These Things I’ve Done by Gabrielle Zevin, as much as the grade eights had. Many students have read the sequel, Because it is my Blood and are anxiously awaiting the release of the third book this fall. This would be a good choice for some engaging reading this summer.
Speaking of summer, the book club participants plan to read The Hobbit over the summer so we can discuss it next fall. Many students also enjoyed April Henry’s Shock Point. Her thrillers are a great way to entice even reluctant readers because they are definite page-turners. Her new book The Girl Who Should Have Died is on my summer reading list.
We look forward to welcoming new members in the fall. Happy reading this summer. Teens check out calgarypubliclibrary.com/teens for details on their summer reading program. There are weekly and grand prizes.
