News From the Band Room

MORNING BAND REHEARSALS
All morning rehearsals will resume next week, and start at 8:00 am.  The room is always open by 7:45 am so kids have time to set up, do some personal warm-up and say hello to their friends.
Monday- Jr. Jazz Band
Tuesday- Grade 8 Band
Wednesday- Grade 9 Band
Thursday- Sr. Jazz Band

Morning rehearsals are mandatory for all band students and are necessary to help prepare our music on a continual basis.  Band is a team sport, and works best when all team members are present!

MANDATORY BAND CAMP MEETING

All students attending spring band camps need to have a parent representative at the Band Camp Parent Information Night.  This is MANDATORY under CBE Off-Site Activities regulations for all overnight trips.  Please attend our meeting on THURSDAY, APRIL 9^TH at 7:00PM.  I realise that this is also Parent Council meeting night and some of you are involved in both sessions.  If you are involved in both meetings, please try to be present for your portion of the meeting.

After the meeting, I am required to either meet or talk on the phone with any parents that did not attend the meeting.  As we have nearly 300 kids involved in band, even 90% attendance will still result in approximately 5 hours of contact time to catch up with all the parents unable to attend the meeting.  Please do you best to be in attendance on the 9th in order for your child to attend our upcoming camps.  Thanks in advance!

COCO BROOKS ORDERS DUE Wednesday, April 1^st, NO JOKE!

Our last fundraising opportunity of the year ends on Wednesday, April 1^st.  Please ensure orders and money are turned into Mrs. Shipley in the band office by end of day Wednesday.  Once all orders have been processed, an update of your fundraising totals will be available by April 9^th.  We will email this information home and have it available at the parent meeting.

MR. CAMPBELL WILL BE A SOLOIST!

Mr. Campbell will be performing Philip Sparke’s Carnival for alto saxophone and wind orchestra on Monday, April 13^th at the Westwinds Music Society’s Spring Concert.  This takes place at the Lord Beaverbrook Theatre at 7:00 PM.  Tickets are available at the door and are $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.  Lord Beaverbrook High School is located at 9019 Fairmount Dr. SE, Calgary, AB T2H 0Z4
