Spring has Sprung at MidSun!

Our talented MidSun students have been front and centre this week with our grade seven band winning a gold award at the city's band festival this week!  All of our bands performed very well and all brought home awards.  Congratulations to Mr. Campbell and his band students!

Yesterday, leadership students hosted a talent show where our student performers treated us to some wonderful displays of talent.  We heard from singers, pianists, a violinist and guitarist. There were also great displays of Taewondo, baton twirlling, break dancing and more that proved without a doubt that  MidSun's got talent!

We are preparing to hold parent teacher interviews tonight and tomorrow.  You can get the most out of the interviews by brining your child and preparing three questions you would like to have addressed.  If you provide those questions in the comments section of your booking, teachers can be prepared to answer them.  Arrive  5-10 minutes in advance so that you don't lose time with any of your teachers.  We are making every effort to keep to our schedule and have made this a priority.  We are looking forward to seeing you there.

Our School Council will be out in full force over the parent teacher interview times to speak with parents about supporting the school in a variety of ways.  They are raising funds for cross-country skis, Chromebooks and a 3D printer.  Three ways you can support the school without it costing you any money are:
1) Purchase your groceries through our Grocery Gift Card program
2) Mention MidSun when purchasing at Cobbs bakery (Can you say hot crossed buns?)
3)Get a free quote from Allstate and mention Midsun. You may save some insurance $ and they give us $25

Lastly, we have begun to prepare for next year and while the budget has not been released yet, the CBE is anticipating some severe cuts.  You are encouraged to give your suggestions for priority areas and ways to save money on our CBE website at: http://bit.ly/1GuGijx
Also, if any returning students' parents wish to make a request for a specific teacher for next year, they are asked to send an email to vrsaretsky@cbe.ab.ca with the request before April 10, 2015.  While we can not guarentee that we will be able to accomdate the request,  we will consider it when we are planning the classes for the next school year.

From all of us at MidSun, have a wonderful break!

Veronica Saretsky
